The Acer Swift 3 - Superb Laptop
The Acer Swift 3 is a superb ultrabook for the people, made even better by its affordable pricing, thin and lightweight design, and good battery life.
The Acer Swift 3 is a budget laptop that outperforms other laptops in its price range. Whereas most low-cost laptops will only deliver a mediocre computing experience, the Swift line illustrates that just because a machine is cheap doesn't mean it can't be a good one. It also performs admirably as an Ultrabook.
1- Spécifications:
- CPU: up to Intel Core i7-8565U
- Graphics: Nvidia GeForce MX150, Intel HD Graphics 620/AMD Radeon Vega 8.
- RAM: 4GB – 8GB
- Screen: 15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080)

2- Design:
This year's Acer Swift 3 maintained Acer's simple design philosophy. The sleek, lightweight aluminum body, which takes inspiration from the Apple MacBook Air, should be recognizable to anyone who has used an earlier Acer Swift 3 model.
The laptop's matte-silver appearance, along with the polished Acer logo on the back, is about as dazzling as it gets, which – for some – is exactly what they want. You will, of course, have to provide your individuality.

The Swift 3 weighs 2.7 pounds and has dimensions of 12.6 x 8.5 x 0.6 inches, making it highly portable without feeling flimsy. Indeed, when our cat became tired of the box and decided to examine the power line, she dragged the open, running laptop down from a three-and-a-half-foot-high desk onto a hardwood floor and bolted it, leaving no obvious or noticeable damage to the laptop's exterior or internals.
While running this test on your system is not suggested, it's reassuring to know that the Acer Swift 3 has a chance of surviving in the real world.
The Swift 3 has a 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display that isn't the sharpest on the market, but it's plenty for most tasks.
In everything bar, the brightest sunshine, and many hours of HD streaming movies looked superb.
3- Performance:
Here’s how the Acer Swift 3 performed in our suite of benchmark tests:
- 3DMark: Sky Diver: 6054
- Fire Strike: 1614
- Time Spy: 530
- Cinebench R20 Multi-core: 1140
- Single Core: 395
- GeekBench 5 Multi-core: 3164
- Single Core 1113
- PCMark 10 (Home Test): 3532 points
- Battery Life: 7 hours and 25 minutes
After putting the Acer Swift 3 through a battery of benchmark tests, we're happy to report that there's a noticeable improvement over last year's model.
When it comes to video playback and general use, the Acer Swift 3 leaves little to be desired. The Swift 3 handled running Google Chrome with two dozen tabs open with ease, even while one of those tabs was playing an Udemy lesson and another was hosting an active Slack channel.
When trying to run numerous advertising-heavy tabs, the system looked to struggle a little, but that's true of most systems, and frankly, that's more of a social issue than one limited to a single Acer laptop.
When the end-game crisis hits and the Intel UHD Graphics GPU is trying to track 200+ corvettes and destroyers weaving between a couple of dozen capital ships firing lasers and fusion torpedoes, the fans will kick in and responsiveness will suffer.
Meanwhile, for a device with 8GB of RAM, the Swift 3 handled multimedia content creation admirably. Loading Photoshop and doing basic photo editing with a dozen or so open files went relatively smoothly.
4- Battery life:
The largest difference between this year's Acer Swift 3 and the previous year's Acer Swift 3 was in the battery sector. Our battery life test, which looped a 1080p video for 7 hours and 6 minutes, was about the same as older Swift 3 models, but the Swift 3 ran for 6 hours and 12 minutes on performance mode with a balanced power profile and a full eight hours on a modest battery saver mode with a balanced power profile on the PC Mark 10 battery test.
In terms of thermal performance, the Swift 3 runs quietly and never gets too hot, even when under load, and the laptop's fans are efficient and quiet while actively cooling everything.
5- Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- Very inexpensive for an Ultrabook
- Highly portable
- Excellent multitasker
Cons:
- The speakers are "meh"
- They aren't ideal for gaming
Conclusion:
The Acer Swift 3 is a low-cost ultrabook that is also shockingly good for the price. It has the appearance, build quality, typing experience, performance, and long battery life that many other ultraportables have at a fraction of the price.
